Avengers Assemble precon: decklist, what it is worth, and five upgrades under $5

Avengers Assemble precon: Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch

Avengers Assemble is the Jeskai (red, white and blue) deck from the four Marvel Super Heroes Commander precons, released 26 June 2026. Captain America, Team Leader sits in the command zone, and the deck is built around one creature type: Hero. Twenty-seven of its thirty creatures are Heroes, and almost everything else in the list finds them, makes them cheaper, or pays you for playing them. Here is the full 100-card list with today's prices, the cards that carry the value, and the five upgrades we would make first.

What the deck does

The engine. Every Hero that enters under Captain America gets a +1/+1 counter, vigilance and haste for the turn, and Cap grows with it. Director Nick Fury makes Hero spells cost one less and digs four cards deep for another Hero each time you attack, Jarvis, Earth's Mightiest Butler draws a card for every Hero spell you cast, and Kindred Discovery (name Hero) draws a card whenever one enters or attacks. Cast Heroes, draw Heroes, cast more Heroes.

The counters. The counters are not decoration. Iron Man, Armored Avenger puts a counter on a creature whenever you draw a card and gives attacking modified creatures flying; War Machine, Avenging Arsenal gives them double strike. Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings grows with every card you draw and pays out five cards and five life at the tenth counter. Captain Marvel, Apex Avenger copies the counters you put on your other creatures onto herself. In a deck that draws this much, ten cards is ten counters.

The finishers. Professor Hulk draws cards equal to the combat damage he deals, Scarlet Witch, Chaotic Avenger casts Hero and noncreature spells for free off the top of your library, Photon, Mighty Marvel turns combat damage into mana, and She-Hulk, Wallbreaker gives every Hero trample. The best card in a fight is Raise the Palisade: name Hero, and every other creature on the table goes back to hand while your team stays.

What it is worth

The 100 cards add up to $73.07 in singles at today's TCGplayer market prices (4 November 2026). The value sits in the reprints rather than the Marvel cards: Spectator Seating, Kindred Discovery, Raise the Palisade and Plaza of Heroes are four of the top five. Black Widow, Agile Avenger is the one new card above five dollars. The commander itself is $2.35, which is what a card printed in every copy of the deck is worth.

Five upgrades under $5

Together they cost $5.67, and every one of them plugs into a line the deck already runs.

  1. Lightning Greaves ($3.78). Captain America starts every trigger in the deck and dies to everything. Haste and shroud for no mana, every turn. Swiftfoot Boots ($1.82) is the budget version.
  2. Rogue's Passage ($0.37). Five Heroes in the list pay off combat damage to a player: Professor Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Photon, Ant-Man, and Falcon and Redwing. A land that makes one of them unblockable is the cheapest card in this article and may be the best.
  3. Brainstorm ($0.31). Three cards drawn for one blue mana is three counters from Iron Man or Shang-Chi. Frantic Search ($0.72) does the same job a turn later.
  4. Windfall ($0.25). The whole table discards and redraws. Black Widow triggers for every opponent who draws two or more, and you refill after the deck's own draw engines have run your hand dry.
  5. Path to Exile ($0.96). The list runs seven instants, and only Swords to Plowshares answers a creature at instant speed for one mana. A second copy of that effect matters more than anything else you could add.

What to cut: Avengers Quinjet (five mana for an effect Nick Fury and Jarvis already cover), Gift of Immortality, Relic of Legends, Heroic Sacrifice, and one Plains.
